Re: Almost 3 years old now

Any idea on the cost of the warranty? The link in the invitation letter has an error on it so doesn’t work.

Already pay 1k for the Porsche per year so wanted to avoid another one if I could help it.

Almost 3 years old now

The X5M is almost 3 now, so end of warranty. Not many miles (about 500) during the last year, which feels like a waste of the warranty year but can't be helped. What a car though, performance is fantastic and the V8 sound is something else as well. Was great to drive back from Europe on the day of l...

Re: Apple Car Play - Waze sound

Thanks Horizon, I did the swipe on the phone and it just showed the image of "sound on" which was on, and below it says about "play sound on" and I have that on "speaker". Would you expect to see the BMW system there? It did not play through the phone either. I don't ha...

Apple Car Play - Waze sound

I bought the Car Play option for my M now it is a single payment rather than annual one, and all is well, Except ... no sound coming from Waze, it shows the cameras etc fine and displays the warning but never speaks. All sound settings on Waze on the phone have been set, but nothing makes it work. A...

Re: Dash cam offers

How did you like that one? I am still looking for one which can actually capture the number plates. The one in one of the other cars has a great picture but there is no way I could read the number plate of a driving car that comes toward me (nor the car in front unless stopped at a traffic light or ...

Automatic headlights

Was testing the automatic headlights last night for the first time in an area of country roads and some bigger A roads. Even though I liked it, not sure if anyone around me would have been that impressed. If a car was about 100 meters ahead of me, the main beams would come on burning his neck hairs ...

Re: Is there such a thing as a X5 with no problems

The E53 is getting on a bit now so I expect that things could go wrong. My previous 2012 E70 40D did not have a single issue in the 6 years I had it (from new). My E53 I had from new as well and I had two issues, a leaking oil gasket from the gear box and the glow plug controller box. Had that one f...

Re: Glow plug controller - N57 engine

Interesting, long ago now but that is what the dealer told me at the time. Not surprising though that take take half the car apart to get the additional revenue.

Re: Glow plug controller - N57 engine

When I had this issue on my E53, the manifold had to be taken off. That is what caused me to not take out a third party warranty anymore as they did the following: - Diagnostics not covered. - Removal of manifold not covered. So they paid for the control box to be replaced but nothing else around it...

Re: X5 3.0 or 40d 3.0

40d was the most reliable engine I have had so far in a BMW. Not a single thing claimed for under warranty (besides exhaust tips going a bit dull within a year). Not had to fix anything either, just standard maintenance in 6 years.
