But it’s a very ‘special’ wire brush. You can’t go using a ‘normal’ wire brush on the ultimate driving machine now can you!

Wheel Hub Corrosion
Only the wheel centring ring itself is supposed to have any lubrication. The official instructions are that the mating surfaces should be cleaned to ensure no dirt, grease or debris lies between the surfaces. BMW even have a special tool to ensure this is done - they would wouldn’t they!

It’s possible, but the ‘usual’ issue is with the plugs or controller themselves. Wiring can be checked with a meter as well. If it shows any signs of damage then be suspicious. Previous reports have been around plugs being replaced only for the controller to fail once they’ve been changed, but you’v...

If the plugs do show an error after clearing then it needs further investigation. With an Ohmmeter check each plug is showing between 0.2 and 5 Ohms. If less than 0.2 = short circuit. If no resistance reading (infinity) = open circuit. In both cases the plug is faulty.

Tracker options new X5 ?
I’m the sane. Mine changes depending upon what I can get. Currently Directline for the X6 and Aviva on the M50.

In the UK? You can’t. Those nice people at BMW have only made a tracking facility in the US because they have to. Your Dealer should be able to give you a Production Number as soon as the order is accepted (sounds like it has been). With that you can call BMW UK Customer Services and they will tell ...

I wonder what's under the bonnet of this?
A much better transmission too most likely. The OEM one would have fainted when shown those tyres…..it would be a rusty-tufty manual box too.

FRM Fault Codes
Looking the codes up on line - this one’s not bad - https://bmwfault.codes/ Code 00A8AA - low headlight beam fault. Could be an issue with adaptive headlight if fitted? Code 009CBA - LIN Bus disturbed - possible wiring issue, usually affect door card buttons for mirrors etc. Code 00A8AD - side marke...

It was worth a check.
Try looking up the code on line and going through the suggestions there.
A ‘leak-off’ test will prove/disprove an injector (it might be a different one!).

Could be air still trapped in the system that’s causing a low pressure alarm. On line searches suggest the use of ISTA-D for the process. Might sound daft, but are all the connectors fully home as well? It wouldn’t be the first time that an electrical connection got overlooked. Diesel is not a condu...

E53 X5 metal screeching sound (from suspension/rack) when I turn the steering wheel right.
Hello and
Things to check are: power steering fluid level, power steering pump, any sign of leaks around the PAS system generally - the hoses were a known issue in 2004. Worth checking front wheel bearings and drive shafts for excess play or noise (rumbling, grinding).

Laser headlights are sadly being discontinued. BMW say their new ‘megapixel’ adaptive LEDs are better, and kinder to the environment (and no I don’t know what the lasers do that’s nasty!). Still available in a few models, but not for much longer. I’ve got them on the i4 and they are well worth the e...

A big part of the problem is that modern cars are just so complex. Something as (relatively) simple as replacing a windscreen now means a trip to a dealership to have the myriad of sensors recalibrated. Spare parts are seriously expensive too. Gone are the days of swapping a headlight bulb. Now ever...

I don’t expect an ICE powered car to go up that much. Insurers are getting twitchy about EVs because there is a lot of garbage, myth and misinformation around fixing them. Mainly to do with the batteries. Industry’s collective knowledge is still developing, as is the repair industry’s technical abil...
