First real fault problem in 5 years!

Well had a look and nothing obviously loose or disconnected, but not very easy to see without starting to take bits off, so I’ll ring dealership and a local Indy tomorrow to get an idea of costs of diagnostic code check etc and try and find out if it’s a common fault with an easy fix, or potentially...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Thanks The sun is out so I’ll have a look this afternoon to see if it’s anything obvious, such as a loose or damaged connection, wire or component part, if not I’ll call the dealer and local Indy who has full ADAS calibration and diagnostic equipment and get some ideas of cost for them to have a loo...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Thanks for the advise, aren’t there any connections on fly leads nearby or on the unit that are easily accessible to check for security etc, as everything appears to work as it should as soon as you restart the car after a short period of time🤔 I’ll maybe see if I can find a local Indy to do a code ...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

Thanks for the info, I hadn't considered the ABS sensors, I'll have a look underneath next time it's dry enough. I always try and avoid rough ground and potholes, given the cost of tyres and wheels, but in this case it had been sat for over a week on the drive before the first occurance and cleared ...

First real fault problem in 5 years!

After owning my x5, a f15, 40d, I had a series of warning messages appear shortly after starting, all relating I suspect to the front radar unit mounted under the grill. IMG-20231013-WA0000.jpg We were on our way to Devon, so continued the trip cautiously, stooping at Strensham services for z quick ...

‘Adding Value’ at service!

A vertu dealership by any chance? I had this a few times with daughters Skoda at a Bristol Street motors (vertu) dealership, so won’t use any of that group any more. Mot failed was told it needed new suspension arms as bushes worn at about £200 a side, when I questioned it and said what about just c...

Genuine Wheel suppliers

Thanks for that, will be interesting to see how you get on with them, that would be a good option for me provided there is no risk to the car transmission as it’s still under the BMW extended warranty at present.

Genuine Wheel suppliers

My “new” wheels came of a good condition fairly low mileage x6, and according to the wheel man hadn’t been refurbished before, the only corrosion was around the centre caps. I agree the prices for new ones are crazy, and I also don’t understand why machine cut are so popular as they are so expensive...

Genuine Wheel suppliers

Just to close this thread out after a very long time! Eventually bought some used BMW 469 20” machined finish wheels that had corroded on the centre areas, rest of wheels in good condition and without tyres, fast forward two years and booked them in for refurbishment and painting using shadow chrome...

Thanks for the info, which is definitely worth knowing, I change my 21” summers to 19” winters towards the end of October each year and have done for the last few years, but it’s a lot of hassle. I have just had a set of 20” wheels refurbished and painted and put new Dunlop sports max gt tyres on th...

Might be worth a try but haven’t found them much use before, although that was technical about approved star marked tyres , I’ll give them a call this morning.

Roof bars

Would anyone happen to know the best place to get hold of or download a set of the fitting instructions for the f15 bmw roof bars that I bought from a member on here a couple of years ago, as I appear to have mislaid them. The most important bit is the positioning of the bars on the car, distances f...

Although they may “only life their cars for three years”, generally they are pretty well made and forums and the knowledgeable members provide valuable information and insights into what needs doing. One good thing is tha BMW do offer a very good comprehensive (albeit a little expensive) extended wa...
