You will probably want something like this, had one is my discovery prior to the x5 and it worked very well.

to the forum, I have the same model x5, and so far (4 years) it’s been one of the best cars I have owned, ticks most of the boxes for me, load lugger, caravan tower, great performance and handling and fairly economical.

Probably as above, the colder weather always has an impact on my diesel x5, about 2 to 4 mpg, don’t know what fuel grade you use but also be the impact of ethanol in petrol going from e5 to e10?

I thought a rear wheel drive BMW 3 series estate was the worst car ever in the snow, until I had a Mercedes C class estate!! That was almost impossible to get uphill unless you could get a lot of momentum going
