Blaupunkt IVMS-5802 5.8" colour monitor

Another item from a mod that never was. This is a brand new unit, (despite the scruffy box) that was going to sit in a custom made pod between the front seats. Sadly the pod i had made was ruined when i moved home and i abandoned the whole idea. I recall i paid a lot for this, though it was a while ...

Re: rear doors won't open

It sounds like the lock actuators are sticking or failed/ing.

Use the warranty for that , pita job to do and not so cheap iirc.

Good luck

[quote=""X5Sport""]Not yet.........no doubt an Admin will be along soon to tell us why nkt. And it's perfectly possible you are the first to ask. I must admit to never having thought about it because I'm so used to seeing it in the Newbies thread whenever anyone joins. It could b...

X6 bling

I accept i'm getting old and therefore becoming out of touch............ I've always thought ACS cars have a leaning towards bling anyway but these two horrors are just expensive tat , imo. Wheel changing locator 'studs'

This cropped up on a thread i was reading here so i had a chat with a friendly local engineer. I had one of these made for myself and speculated some members may want one also. They're not 'beautifully' made, being more functional than that, but they are just what's needed when trying to hold a heav...

Re: Digital TV

I swapped mine to the upgrade BMW digital tuner that was originally in my E39 and i virtually never use it now. Reception in my location anyway is rubbish, i don't think any more than four maybe five channels have ever tuned in at any one time and of course, every time you switch it on your location...

Re: Painting wheels

They're full hi-cote laquer gloss actually. As you see them they're dusted in brake pad residue. The colour is a MB reference 7756 and is apparently the colour used on the McLaren SLR's wheels.

Re: Painting wheels

Dare to be different :)

Not the same wheel style but these were just done in anthracite, or as i regard it, "brake pad dust" colour 8-) (You can gauge the colour by the silver running board)

Mobile phone, plug in chargers?

I'm happy to show my ignorance here, does the cigarette lighter end of these items have anything fancy in it, power stepping or whatever? I use a Nokia X2 these days, quite enough for my needs but the lack of a BMW cradle, despite their cost is a frustration as charging is now a messy arrangement wi...

Oh indeed, the law it may be but insurers are very good at bending rules to serve self interest, as i'm sure many of us will have experienced.

Re: Tyre laws in France ?

In rough translation, it appears their rules are the same as ours, or collectively they're EU regs? A jobsworth Gendarme though can be hard work if there is any doubt, i know! Traduction (français > anglais) See this on tires: Legal Obligations Since 1995, the Highway Code imposes the following rul...

SAGA insurance.

Whom i join next month have just told me they insure all age groups not just oldies like me .

They also confirmed, they don't need any tracker devices if the car is garaged overnight and valued at lower than £60K :)

Some useful winter tyres info

My sales thread for a surplus set of 20" rims solicited a comment about fitting winter tyres, and about there being no 315 width for the rears and how the fronts 275 size would be too stretched, which i had believed and assumed myself. Fast forward a week or so and i got to thinking about this ...
