Re: 2003 X5 4.6 petrol
My prefacelift 4.4i returned a computer displayed average of 20.3 mpg, bang on same as the official figures & when driven lightly. I would see 26-28.5 on runs, maybe approaching 30mpg if I sat at 60 mph on the motorway on a cool day and foot off the gas when going downhill. Cold start local shor...

Re: Why winter tyres here
Marinman I would no run winters all year around. They will scrub and deteriorate quite badly if you drive hard on them above low temps. As for your query re options for all season rubber. Certainly on 19" staggered set up I cannot find any all season sets for sale in UK to cover both axles. I m...

Re: Why winter tyres here
I had Michelin Diamaris (standard OE fitment) on 19" rims fitted to my E53. A few years ago when we had some snow it took me 45 mins to get off my driveway before I left the south coast & headed to Suffolk for a prior promised commitment. My journey was somewhat challenging. Despite drivin...

Re: Is it time to sell the petrol or diesel car and go electric
Regarding the cumulative effect on diesel prices. I know that GFV figures have been revised by at least one major car brand for diesel models

Re: Is it time to sell the petrol or diesel car and go electric
So we have had the latest budget. In the interim period before any electric revolution...... If the government was serious about nitrogen levels then perhaps they should shave slapped 30p on a litre of diesel and reduced unleaded by the same amount. As the majority of members here run diesels I susp...

Re: BMW and Diesel Taxation in the UK
Ridiculous situation.........there may not have been much demand for petrol X3 models a year or two ago, however, I suspect there would be more demand now if they were offered. If I was in market for a G01 (Gen 3) X5 I would want a petrol engine or petrol hybrid. Particularly when many are avoidin...

Wanted : Facelift E53 3.0i Sport Manual
E53 3.0i Sport Manual is one of a number of vehicles potentially on my radar. Have also looked at early petrol E70 but resent paying the higher annual VED rate. Certain BMW tourings have been considered as well as vehicles from other marques. Back to the 3.0i X5....Black paint & black interior ...

Re: "repetitive rustling sound" - turned out to be a failing timing chain
If you had described rattling sound I suspect somebody would have suggested exploring possible timing chain or tensioner issues. Sorry but I missed the video link post. I also have not heard of this on other similar engined cars yet. Perhaps someone ran it with wrong oil top up or at low level. Timi...

Your decision to make.
If it werE mine & if mikeage genuine then I would get it changed but only if done by someone who knows how to do it properly....I mean in accordance with box manufacturer instructions.

Re: New to x5 ready to torch it
Welcome, As indicated easiest way to know what is wrong is to take it to someone wirh diagnostic kit & capable of diagnosing any issues you have. Otherwise it's a case of trial and error. Poor running could be down to any one of a number of issues.....glow plugs, plug control unit, leak(s), filt...

Re: Now thats different
With alleged similarity to a lyric line from a certain song ... "White X5 looks like a Panda" Some may feel it might appeal to persons looking to start out dealing in particular lines of business. The body kit isn't hideous tbh...albeit not my cup of tea. I dont like the black paint to the...
