Seething and downright angry

That’ll teach them. Someone on the i4 forum tried to replace their shifter (looked the same as the E71 until March ‘23) with the newer version like this in mine: IMG_1438.jpeg and bricked the car. It was only a couple of plugs that needed moving as the shift switch works the same, but there’s a very...

There are kits available - I’m pretty sure this Osram kit is very likely what BMW rebadged.

Non OE drl's

BMW did at one point offer a kit for non-DRL equipped cars. There wasn’t one for the E70/71 as those came with DRLs from the factory, albeit not LED. The slim, horizontal lamps went into the plastic trim close to the front fogs. I can’t find them listed on REALOEM meaning they were withdrawn before ...

The i4 M50 I ordered back in 2021 was £68k. Today the same spec is £82k. An increase of over 20%!!! Suffice to say I wouldn’t be ordering one today.

Mine was the same.

Ouch……one of those I wish I’d never started jobs.

For those unaware, Cotswolds offer discounted parts to Forum members. Assuming it still works ‘cotswoldbmwmini’ is their ident on here. If you send them a PM with details and your VIN they’ll come back to you.

Oh well, at least the cheap options were tried first. 190k isn’t bad I suppose.

Ctek charger

Are the connections the right way round? The warning light is either - reversed polarity, interrupted charging or not on a 12V battery. Your BMW battery is very likely AGM - most have been since the early 2000’s. You need to press <Mode> to put it into AGM charging. The charging cycle is different. ...

The pictures look to be the wrong way round… The first one is (I think) with the car engine off and the second with it running? The second one implies the charging voltage is too high. It should be no higher than 14.4V. Really the only reliable tool for measuring is a multimeter rather than an App (...

The E70 has a load shedding system which will turn off non-essential systems in order to keep the car running. Electric seats are in that category. Is that 10.4V engine running or off? 14.8 is OK for an AGM chemistry battery but too high for a wet battery (classic lead acid type). The report that th...

Tyres lasting well 20k so far

Varies. The Dunlop SportMaxx the car came with lasted about 11k, they were replaced with Bridgestone Dueller which gave 18k and were in turn replaced by Continental ContactSport 5. Those weren’t lasting well but had to be replaced after about 12k because of a sidewall failure (resulting in a failed ...

BMW does seem to have issues with its auto/assisted parking. I4 owners have been reporting using it and the car completely ignoring a viable space and just parking somewhere odd - like across the back of three cars! I’ve got it on the i4 but have never used it. I know what you mean about going back ...
