X5 3.0i Petrol won’t start...
Hi all. I’m going to get the car to my mechanic this week, but would appreciate any suggestions you can offer. Went to start my 2006 E53 3.0 petrol this morning for the starter motor to crank as normal but then cut before engine start. The starter motor now doesn’t crank as normal, but a weaker, att...

Re: Fitting a Westfalia Detachable Towbar & Dedicated Electric
I just wanted to add my thanks to UrbanFlow for the great guide, and also to tsinc for reinstating the pictures following the Photobucket change of terms. A few things I found yesterday that may help others after my soul destroying 11 hour tow bar fitting escapade in the pouring rain >:( Good job I ...
Take your time and walk away from the rough ones. For your money a tidy 55 plate is possible ( car tax went to £500 from march 2006.
This is great advice for the sake of a few months between some car ages, but it's worth noting the date it jumped to the higher band...

Cheap and Cheerful Fix - Vinyl Wrap Grab Handles
Thanks to AW8 for the suggestion of wrapping my interior grab handles to improve the appearance. Much like all E53's of this age, the soft touch rubber doesn't stand up well to bejewelled fingers. The drivers door and passenger door were pretty tatty in look, despite my car being a low mileage exam...
...a tad expensive for the few occasions I will use mine.
You're not wrong. I was dubious about buying what is essentially, the most expensive bars on the market, but as a permanent fit, I thought it would be worth it for minimum noise - I just didn't expect so muc...

Roof Bars Installed...
I had previously searched, but couldn't find a recommendation for roof bars for the E53. Roof bars are an integral part of my 4x4 life, permanently fitted, so finding a set that looked good, but also performed in all areas can be pretty tough. My previous square bars from my Shogun were ideal, but ...

Realoem has S435 as Poplarwood Smoke Grey
Thanks for that, that's a great help
Of course, smoke grey being the hard one to find on eBay
Looking at realoem guide pricing, it's likely pointless asking the dealer £££

Re: Hi all - Newbie with a facelift E53 3.0i Sport
Thanks all. I'm really pleased with the condition. I viewed quite a few 'bins' before I found this one. Interior is equally in lovely nick, but there's a few areas I'd like to tidy up. A couple of little marks on the leather could do with a conditioner or similar, maybe the interior door grab handl...

Hi all - Newbie with a facelift E53 3.0i Sport
Hi all :) Just picked up my first X5, and to say I'm delighted is an understatement. It's a bit of a departure for me, as this is my first 'soft roader' (Am I allowed to say that? :-[) All my previous 4x4's have generally been chosen by off road prowess and towing capacity. Think Range Rover, Lan...
