Engine Rebuild

Thanks & 🤞 I think a lot of people buy them on finance for three years and then px them, plus a lot read the articles and think it’s just rare and exaggerated, although to be fair LR have been reasonably good at swapping units out of warranty on a good will basis especially if they had a full LR...

Engine Rebuild

Similar initial service regime as the x5, first oil and filter at around 1500 miles then every year by LR, so full service history with a low yearly of less than 8k a year/service. Apparently it’s a fairly well documented manufacturing fault on the 3.0 tdv6 engines of that era used in the discovery’...

Engine Rebuild

Thanks for the info, £6k is a lot of money, but hopefully you’ll get at least another 150k miles from it. I am a little nervous about engines after my 2.5 year old Land Rover Discovery snapped its crankshaft at just under 20k miles and 2.5, a new engine turbos etc later, fortunately the £22k bill pl...

Engine Rebuild

Sorry to hear of your woes, as a matter of interest how many miles had it covered before failure, I only ask as I have a fairly low mileage 2018 40d (34k miles) and wondering is I should start to be concerned, I bought it with 18 miles on the clock and it’s had annual oil and filter changes.

Folding mirrors on locking.?

Only available if you have comfort access fitted...otherwise needs programming as X5sport has mentioned. My f15 x5 does not have comfort access but you can still fold the mirrors by using the long press on the remote, I picked it up with 18 miles on the clock so as far as I am aware it’s not been c...

Battery

Maybe get a price from an independent such as Hughes Brothers in Derby, always found them very good, they may just fit and code it, if you got a battery from Tanya or similar

New hopefully minor issue washer jets....

Had a similar issue with mine albeit an f15, tried a few times and one nozzle was just a dribble, so after a few attempts of washing screen, wiped my finger over the nozzle a few times and it started working and it’s been fine ever since. Tried that at the start, no luck. Have booked it at the deal...

EGR cooler recall letter

Found I had a recall on my x5 40d (f15) in July, EGR cooler replaced took around 4 hours in late July along with an oil service. Apparently a lot of the previous recall was inspection and only replace if required, this recall is to replace the EGR cooler with a new and hopefully more robust design.

Another EGR cooler recall?

Had the egr cooler replaced under the recall on my x5 (f15) last week. On the last recall it was just inspected.
It looks like it’s a massive recall for replacement egr coolers this time around.

BMW to charge for using heated seats

It should be easier to build one model with all the options added, so one loom, one set of parts and one build procedure, and then enable the options ordered by the customer, it should also great for the second hand market, to add options where the original purchaser didn’t want a specific option, a...

LCI Headlight Washer Jet Troubleshooting

From memory, BMW software only operates the head light wash every so many screen wash cycles, there is a note in the owners manual about it I think. Around every 4 or 5 activations of the screen wash or thereabouts.

Fuel prices rising by the week now it seems

At least it keeps the forum alive, nothing worse than going to the new posts and seeing nothing, makes you want to not bother again, one doesn’t have to read them but at least it shows the forum is still going! Although fu is expensive everywhere it’s interesting to see mpg and regional differences ...

Dog guard/net/luggage holder thing

You can quite often pick up a used travall ones on the forums or on eBay, think I paid £60 for the one for the discovery and sold it for £60 when I changed to the X5, but haven’t bothered with one for the x5 fp so far

Dog guard/net/luggage holder thing

LloydBmwcockermouth, are listing this one on their eBay page, which is more of a full guard. It may or may not be suitable as it appears to use the isofix fixings in the rear of the back seats
