Just back after a week away and blown away with the fuel consumption..........

Just arrived back from a 8 days vacation too Devon in the X5 3ltr Diesel Le-Man,never missed a beat over the 550 miles that i covered, but what really blew me away was the fuel consumption which averaged 36mpg this included motorway and very rural lane driving. Only thing that was nerve racking was d...

Re: Oil additives in E53 Diesel engines ???

Thanks gents for your indepth words of wisdom, glad i asked the question, the X5 is all tanked up ready for a long trip down to devon for the week, early start so we dont get stuck in the rush hour traffic. A good long journey should blow the cobwebs out,the engine has no rattles or noises what so ever...

Would like some advice regarding 'Oil Additives' in my E53 Diesel engine,i have been using either STP or Wynn's oil additives in car engines both diesel and petrol for many many years and of course one has got too use the appropriate type for your specific engine ie make sure you have the diesel ver...

Re: Floor mats with a difference

Those mats in the pictures they do look super sexy but in practical use they would be about as much use as a 'Inflatable Dartboard'   :) they would never show you pictures of them after a while and how they have stood upto the everyday use that mats get in a car.

Re: Range rover wheels on e53

I have the 20'' wheels on my E53 X5 but these are the factory fitted ones as its the Le-Mans spec, must admit i do like the look of them but the ride is a little harsh but have got use too it,have seen some 22' on both the X5 and RR models but buying a complete set new is crazy in my opinion just for...

Re: x5 for overlanding

In theory i would agree with you a X5 could be a good basis for a 'Overland vehicle' but could end up costing you a massive fortune if anything did go wrong and they often do go wrong in normal everyday driving conditions, but pushing them too the limit of reliability in the harsh desert and other h...

Re: Speed camera /detector
I used to have Road Angels but now just keep an annual sub going on the Garmin in the car.  Cheaper and (IMHO) more up to date.
Is the Garmin version for fixed speed cameras like the TomTom one ?? hope it is as i have just had a Garmin fitted albeit not use the X...

Re: Speed camera /detector

A few years back i use to have a top of the range Snooper, cannot recall what the exact model was but it burnt out and never replaced it,but it did work 'reasonably well' but it did trigger off for no specific reason when going past factory units etc, possibly operating on the same frequency etc.Never...
