Noise from engine

I have a noise from the engine that occurs after the beast has been sat a while, ( which is quite often as it's not my daily driver ), when started it's almost as though it's starved of oil for a nano second then it goes before coming back when warm, but not so loud, definitely top end, so I'm think...

Re: Gearbox lurch

Hi also had this ongoing problem on my X5, nearly covered 94K, had the vehicle last +6-years so don't think my auto-box has been touched. The vehicle has started having the so common lurch problem when the vehicle slows down and selects the lowest gear as well as the “trans fail safe” message poppi...

Re: bmw x5 e53 driver wiper doesnt clean 15cm of window

Not sure if it will help with your problem but I've just changed all three blades on my X5 and had the problem on the rear and the drivers side. The rear was a simple case of wd40 on the arm pivot point and spring, must have been a little bit tight. The drivers side blade was being held of the centr...

Re: Gearbox lurch

I'll look one up.
I'm in the Gloucester area, anyone know of a decent specialist, I'm quite willing to travel as well to find a good one.

Re: Gearbox lurch

Mileage is 114K and I don't know about filter or oil changes, no evidence in paperwork.
The indie did say that the gearbox has been changed at some point, it's not the original box.

Gearbox lurch

I don't use the car every day so it's never bothered me that much, but yesterday I drove it from cold for about 20 miles, ( different conditions ), and the gearbox behaved itself, then, after 20 miles it started lurching when coming to a stop, not all the time though. I'v had the gearbox level check...

Re: Opinions..

In my opinion not black, makes cars look a bit Chavy, ( you know what I mean ).
Maybe a slightly darker silver or go for it with a shadow chrome finish, you won't really know until they're on the car, then it's too late I suppose.
Have a search for images of cars with that combination

Re: Centre bore enlargement.

Just a thought, how are you letting them know the bore size required, taking a rim that already fits for them to measure? or a hub?

Re: Centre bore enlargement.

Until you take the job to show them you won't know.
In all fairness they're not going to price it until they've seen it, and you can also assess whether you want them to do the job for you at the same time.

Re: Centre bore enlargement.

As already said really, a decent engineering company will sort them out for you, usually find them tucked away on the industrial estates.

Mines a 53 plate 4.6 and the part no on the invoice is B64.11.6.923.204
If you message them with your reg no you'll get the right part.

Re: Fuel consumption on X3

Just enjoy it and don't worry too much about the fuel bill, you should try running a 4.6 economically, lol.

Re: Heater/ Blower Fan Stopped Working. (Location of FSR Unit?)

FSR is located drivers side, it's a bit tricky and most of it is done by feel. I ended up with scratched paws and a nice stiff neck the next day, but I'm a little over 21, so not so supple as I used to be. My advice is to buy one through bmw, good discount through this site, that way you know you're...
