Insurance

I appreciate this is variable for all sorts of reasons.

I've been with the NFU for more years than i can remember. It's not quite renewal time just yet but enquires this week suggest its going to be more than double what its ever been previously. A minimum of £1100 i was warned.😱

As best i can recall when i replaced my E53 hedgehog, it was certainly more than £13 but nothing like £123 either. Best talk to a BMW dealer I think.

Several emails later to Forematic in China, owners of the Foresee brand, response, nil ☹️

I understand the car can be driven with the hedgehog inoperable.

Non OE hegehogs are known to be troublesome though. Did you buy a genuine example?

Any church mice around?

I knew it was an awkward job and having learned the hard way with the E53 back in the day, I have only ever used BMW Screenwash since. I don’t know what it specifically has in it that stops bacterial growth, but it does contain isopropyl alcohol. Not had another problem across any subsequent beemer...

Any church mice around?

X6 requires wheel off, liner and arch trim off, sill cover or side step free'd off or removed. In my case, i witnessed that trim suspended by the rearmost fixiings only. This is how it must have become damaged

Its an expensive dealer fix. Over two hours labour.

Any church mice around?

Or maybe everyone's hibernating for winter 🤔 Me. I'm back to Arden BMW tomorrow to have the sill piece of exterior trim replaced, that was damaged on a pre airbag recall visit. It was when the washer bottle had to be de-gunked. Seemingly a quarter of the car was dismantled to access it. That they st...

Interesting reading. Nil VED must be a nice experience but forgive me, i think that is grossly unfair on others obliged to run a fossil fuel car/van. The same road usage should demand the same fee. VED is spectacularly unfair anyway, of course.. Why should a sub 5k miles motorist pay the same as a 1...

I have said here previously. My X6 is the last car in my lifetime aside from some sort of mobility transport, if i were to need it. So EVs don't interest me. I dont know what VED is on the i5 i saw but at well over 2 tonnes, it should be what my X6 is but doubt it is. I wonder at the logic of EVs pa...

I remain sceptical about viability. It simply wouldnt work for me. A vehicle i can't just jump in and drive to the Midlands or futher is not for me. And, as i have noted previously, getting the charger hooked into my home would be a major hassle, if even possible. How would residents of the many Vic...

My previous system was a Hormann, i don't think that had a learn button though.

No response yet from China on my query.

Talking of electric, it was hard to ignore the very shiny black i5 in the showroom,. Just £111, 455, but on the road though !😁😃

Bonkers with only a 256 miles range

I got access to the door motor yesterday, and there are no buttons denoted as 'learn', as per the YT link. I found an online manual, but i'm not confident of messing with it without full knowledge. The motor is from Foresee, a Chinese brand, I’ve emailed them for help, but based on similar past enqu...

So yesterday was finally the day for replacement of the damaged trim from the airbag recall. In fairness, Arden BMW never argued or disputed my claim. Its probably cost them a few bob too. It's also taken an age to happen as the centre console trim was a special/back order. The console side trims wi...
