Re: Insurance for the E70 4.0d

3 claims in 5 years will have made any NCD you have totally worthless , my premium more than doubled from my old 330d e46 to an x5sd ,was told its group 47 out of 50 !

Re: Window regulator and vinyl wrap

I think the more expensive the vinyl wrap the easier it is to fit ,might be worth getting a pro to do it and you just remove the bits and take them along , could maybe do it in very little time and far better than a beginner could  :)

Re: Just viewed another E70 with decent spec.

Id think a pan sunroof would be a liability on an 07 car , its not a matter of if but when it going to break ,( idid want one though but had to do without ! ) I bought an sd and it has plenty of go and Id think the single turbo engine would be working quite hard given the weight of these things .   ...

Re: New eyes fitted

I just bought a set of angel eyes for my E70 as well as the originals are yellow light and about 1 candle power. Those ones look nice and bright. :)

My wishlist was sd, black , msport ,panroof and towbar  but this came up without the roof which I understand can be trouble as they age and no towbar but will get one fitted . Got 2 coats of col...

Re: Newbie just got an E70 x5sd

Right in front of the diesel tank there are little box sections either side the tank mounts off these just crumbled away both rear jacking points holed when poked and the outer sill has a big hole behind the plastic cover hidden away. E46's tend to go in the drivers rear arch area much worse than pa...

Re: * Marked Tyres - An Expensive Mistake (but not as bad as it could've been)

When you put the sizes into a tyre size calculator for an x5 e70 the 20's are a spot on 100% match front to rear but the 19's are 0.3% out ,not a lot but if the system doesn't like anything over 1.5% difference they you don't want to be starting with an error even on new tyres which will only get wo...

Re: Back-up for using non-flats

Hi Alan, I put that number in realoem and its listed for an X5 E53   (01/2001 — 09/2006) X5 F15   (08/2012 — 06/2018) X6 F16   (09/2013 — 07/2018) but not an e70 though I'm sure they should all be the same fitment .The problem is the tyre may look new but could be up to 17 years old if off an e53  a...

Re: Fitting towbar

Hi thanks for the prompt reply snrbrtsn  :) Sounds like a dedicated kit is the way to go ,mine is a 2009 e70 which I failed to mention.  Good to see the Bmwland is alive and well, haven't been on it since it closed a good few years ago but used to be a very regular poster on there . 8)

Re: Back-up for using non-flats

Had a flat on the second day of ownerside , nail in the tyre  (on non runflats and no spare) and the fuse for the 12v socket had blown too so had to get another car to get the electric to pump up the tyre to get to the tyre fitters .   Id like a full sized front spare (20's fitted) but as it doesn't...

Re: Fitting towbar

Does anyone know if the 7 pin dedicated wiring being sold is plug and play or a bit more involved to fit as was looking to get a towbar fitted at some stage hopefully a Westfalia detachable type one too ?

Re: * Marked Tyres - An Expensive Mistake (but not as bad as it could've been)

Have just bought an e70sd with staggered style 227 20's and non runflats fitted (budget tyres by the look of it ) ,all tyres new and all seems fine for now . I certainly don't want to be fitting runflats due to the loss of ride quality and the additional cost if I don't need to.

Newbie just got an E70 x5sd

Just joined the forum, bought a 2009 black x5sd after 12 years of an e46 330d which has sadly died due to terminal rust in the back end ! A great car that will be sorely missed but warming to the new to me x5 .
