Re: BMW sat nav upgrade to aftermarket research
Hi Nick, my son's reverse cam fits in one of the number plate light slots, it's a good picture but personally I'm not keen cos it gives of such a different spread of light to the other one. Picky I know. I fitted one in the cover where the tow bar goes (obviously no towbar)a lot easier to get the w...

Re: BMW X5 4.6 to 4.4 engine swap
Hi IanP, I know your right, I know that is the sensible thing to do but it's so difficult to take something that is running perfect and pull it to pieces. I payed less than Greydog's repair bill for my 4.6 18 months ago. I did this repair about 6 months ago to my sons 4.4 which was in a horrendous ...

Re: BMW X5 4.6 to 4.4 engine swap
Hi Greydog, your answer implies that the engine was fixed at a cost off 5.5k with new tensioner and chain guides, has it broken again since it was fixed? Interested because I have one with 123k. Can't make up my mind whether to do this as preventive maintenance or wait till some symptoms start to sh...

Re: HELP!!!!
If as you say the engine is sweet and you recently payed out for bushes and in general you were happy with the vehicle then you should consider fixing it. Of course if this has pissed you off so much that your not going to replace with another X5 then sell. You could buy another X5 with half that mi...

Re: BMW X5 4.6 to 4.4 engine swap
Having done an engine swap, in a car, I assume that the 4.4 would come with the engine wiring loom and it's own DME, and not just have been cut out of it's previous owner. There are differences in that the alternator is water cooled in the 4.6 and I believe the 4.4 isn.t. Hence things like that nece...

I must be like you, thinking about it, I'm sure there's a post somewhere where someone fitted one and then needed to buy a new AFM??

Re: Car shuts down : engine + electronics (new battery and new alternator)
I assume the car starts up straight away and then drives ok until next time. check all your earth leads ie those between the chassis and the engine block. Even if they look ok disconnect them clean the area and reconnect. Same with battery leads, even though it's new. Don't forget the DME earth. Tak...

Re: V8 weep hole coolant leak
The M62 V8 is effected with this problem, they also have a coolant pipe going from the pump to the accumulator at the back of the engine, they also have the valley pan leak problem which shows up by leaking through the weep holes and leaking down the front or rear of the engine. I just fixed my son'...

Re: BMW sat nav upgrade to aftermarket research
Hi, my 02 original system didn't have/ hadn't been upgraded to digital TV so I bought the Dynavin module (not sure that even if your original system had digital it would work with the Dynavin) The Dynavin module is plug and play, channels can be changed on the steering wheel. It has 2 aerials which ...

Re: Angel eyes
I fitted these, or similar, they are nice and bright but as previous poster said a bit of a pain to fit. I had to wait till the wife was out and then put the whole headlight into the oven, do remember it was for 20 mins but can't remember the temperature, then the covers just peeled off, must admit ...

Re: BMW sat nav upgrade to aftermarket research
I have had a Dynavin fitted for some time now, pretty impressed I must say, also have the TV module plugged in and get good reception in most places, just about to fit the DAB module this weekend, if the lead turns up? The bluetooth is good, streams music from phone, if you plug the phone into the u...
