Massive dilemma

Post by AdieG » Tue Jan 12, 2016 9:24 pm

Evening folks
I've had the SOS call system malfunction error appear after the battery was disconnected when i had the injectors replaced just before christmas. It was booked into my local stealer today to see if they could reset/resolve. Even though i've got no other issues they say the bluetooth module is showing a fault and needs replacing. Ive got no problems with the hands free kit or any of the idrive functions so it's purely just the error message as I don't use the BMW assist features.

Now here's the kicker! They said the cars been chipped and that if they fitted the new module they would have to reprogram and the car would revert to standard. It's a 2008 3.0sd (35d)M Sport. I had no idea when i purchased it from a 'German' specialist that it had been chipped so i'm torn.

Fix the annoying error message and ! but loose the map, or live with the ! and keep the map.

The worries I have is I'm used to the current performance and BMW have no idea what its mapped to, just that its not standard, so i'd be gutted if it suddenly felt slow.

I'm currently getting about 25/26 MPG so i'm assuming i'd loose power but gain a few MPG.

Not doing anything makes me worried as i'm sure, now I know it's been mapped, that it's voided my insurance as i said its had no modification.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Adie
