Introduction - new X5 owner

Post by lentil » Wed Jul 09, 2014 12:53 pm

Hi chaps,

Thought i'd do a little introduction seeing as i've joined XDrivers...

Picked up my X5 last weekend. Its a 55 plate 3.0d with 121K miles. I was a bit concerned about the mileage, but I know a couple of people with the 3.0d who havent had many issues, so (touching wood) hopefully all will be good.

The first week has gone very well. Absolutely loving the auto box and general feel of a big beast of a car! We have a baby on the way which was one of the reasons for deciding on an X5. Saftey and practicality. I was originally looking at a 320d saloon, but so glad I went for the X5.

I went from an Audi S3 with 265 bhp, so performance wise the X5 is obviously going to be slower, but im surprised at how much pull it has, for the size of the car ! Feels faster as well with it being such a unit I think haha.

It even seems better on fuel than the 2.0 Audi, so its a win win I think.

So far, i've just had to remove the amp and send it off for repair - that came back yesterday, and all speakers are now working again thankully.

Other than that, its just the parking sensors that are very hit and miss, but i'll live with that... unless anyone know where I can get it fixed reasonably cheap?

The body work looks in good nick, but i've borrowed a clay bar kit and bought some decent wax etc to give it a good overhaul when I get chance.

Here the beast...

:hi: to the forum!

Who did you  use to fix the RCM module?

What's wrong with the sensors? They can be replaced for around £20 a pop.

Looks good BP !

I noticed the lower section of the bumper is colour coded on yours... is that standard on the 4.8 model? Also the grille appears to be grey?? That also standard?

I bet it goes like stink does it?

Hi and welcome to the forum, your X5 e.0d looks very nice and I would say a good choice.

For infor the 4.8is has a different bumper due to the lower section being different. Andyes the grills I are titanium colour as standard and they also have the wider arches and and a lower rear spoiler.
