Speed set

Post by malc1950 » Thu Aug 21, 2014 2:00 pm

Has anyone got a speed set device fitted to there X ?, I had one on a DAF truck that I owned in the late 90's, It was good I used it all the time, in road works' get to 50mph hit the switch stand on the accelerator and 50 mph is all you get or what ever speed you set it at that's all you get, I know some Merc's have them fitted from new my friend has one in his, I've been looking on Google but there's not much information about it ,
I would love to have one fitted so I could keep my points free license

My E36 used to have a bonging alarm thing that would go off if you went over a certain pre set speed... I found that pretty useful!

Hi my X has that I have it set for 32mph it bleeps when you exceed  it, a speed set is not the same thing it won't go beyond the speed your going when you turn it on even if you floor it ,

You would probably need to do some coding somewhere in the car's brain to bring the limiter down from 155mph (or whatever it's set to on the E53) to what you need.  Never seen or heard of such a plug in device though on a BMW.

Two ways to do this..

As someone mentioned there is a Speed alarm in the OBD you can set

Or

Set cruise control to 50 and take your foot off!!
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)
