Wing mirror and Driver seat issues....

Post by peter316 » Wed Sep 10, 2014 5:00 pm

My drivers wing mirror glass has gone all hazy and its difficult to see out of, do I need a new mirror for it?

Also my drivers seat, the part that pulls out to support your legs is broke and basically isn't locking into place therefor keeps sliding back out? Hard to explain but anyone else encountered this?

Cheers

Hazy mirror glass is most likely in need of replacement.  Do you know if you have auto-dimming mirrors?  Might be a golden coloured layer visible which is the liquid crystal layer going bad.  If blue tinted all round and all the time then you don't have auto-dim.

New glass is expensive to be prepared!  Something over £100 each!!

The yellow tint and cloudy /hazy appearance is definitely an autodim mirror fluid degeneration - replacements very pricey and not really worth it, you can replace with a normal non-auto dim replacement for a lot less.  I managed to find a replacement via a breakers, but they are not easy to find in good used condition.

The seat mechanism is obviously faulty and not keeping the front bolster in place- other than replacing the seat or removing it to repair the mechanism can't be helpful with that, quite a nuisance it must be to have it not locked in position!
