Thats a sensible approach and if he wants to take you to court then the judge will see that you have acted in a reasonable manner and tried to resolve the issue. Lets hope the trader sees it this way since it cant be worth his time and effort to go to court either.

Enjoy your holidays in the new motor and caravan with your family - thats the important thing here  :)
