remote key

Post by themoog » Sat Jul 11, 2015 9:46 am

Hi. The remote is not working on the key to the wife's x5 (2003 4.4). It opens the hatch but the centre console door lock or interior lights do not work. After lots of research I think it may be in ' transport mode'. What is the best way to check? Is anyone near me with dis or inpa that would take a look for some beer money? I am near Cambridge. I know a chap in Harrogate that can do it but that means removing the bcm and sending it away.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks

Aha! GemTech is a couple of miles away from me and Jeremy recons he can sort it. I just hope now that it is in TM and not the bcm that's gone kapput. Otherwise its a second hand part if I can find one. The only problem is that he charges £45 for a scan...

If anyone is interested, the X5 got sorted today. It was in transport mode as I thought but also the driver side rear door solenoid was slightly sticky. The lock button was only dropping half way when locking- in fact the door was never locked...
Anyway, full diagnostic and all old codes cleared, key sorted and a blown fuse to the cigarette lighter replaced £70. At least the wife is happy..

Fully agree. Wife's happiness is key! :-)

May I ask where did you sorted the issue? Was it a diy? I am interested mainly on the sticky door button

A guy I know runs GemTech near Cambridge which is a couple of miles from me. He ran software that would operate the sticky door lock only to free it off. Then turned off the transport mode. All good.
I suppose you could diy it if one of your buttons is stuck but you would need to be able to grip it to lift it up and down. Ours wasn't retracting fully so the rear door was never locked.
