car valuation

Post by shadrack » Wed Nov 11, 2015 7:14 pm

Is there any free sites that to value a car ther than we buy any car etc, thinking of putting mine up for sale as i need a larger deposit for mortgage  than i previously thought.  also does the auc car warranty transfer as this could be a good selling point, thanks

I tend to look for similar cars on Autotrader as it will give you some idea what they are selling for and what you could ask for yours :)

The BMW Warranty is definitely an attractive selling point, but will not change the value. It may just help you when negotiating the price with a potential buyer.

The best websites for car valuations are as follows:

CAP Valuation here : https://www.capconnect.co.uk/ConsumerVa ... WRTZ&New=1

Wisebuyers valuation here: http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/

Or alternatively send me the spec, mileage & reg and I will value it for you although it wont be as detailed as I can do on z4 coupes or x4s as I dont know the optional extras as well on other cars.

Bear in mind the wisebuyers valuation does not take into consideration spec, condition and service history. Its always best to look at  your competitors in the market when valuing your car (I suggest autotrader)

I glanced at this thread initially & the figure £18k private sprang to mind as a private sale figure. Having seen the pics and knowing certain colour combinations are more sought than others plus the auc & fresh rubber I reckon perhaps £19k private.  Some might put it up privately circa £19.5k but I would expect to accept 18.5 maybe 18k.

On the plus side winter is upon us. On the negative side some will have a budget circa 20k & expect to source a lower mileage car - fearful of the psychological 100k for repair bills & lesser later resale desireabiliity if selling on in a year or two.

A clued up Indy trader taking it as p/x will want to see a drink and some out of it so I would expect to be bid 16k or lower....it is all relative as to what you aim to change into & how much margin there is in that. No point trying to guess the maths - it's all down to cost to change into what you want (however you put that together).

I agree wisebuyers is best guide for private sellers and buyers. CAP argubaly and allegedly a little utopian and loved by buyers of fleet stock to bid hard. Glasses fairly good but not always. Prices supposedly based on recent historic sale data but arguably with focus on hammer prices....one does wonder how many dealers actually submit data returns on prices actually sold for on a forecourt.....(I doubt there were many data returns to CAP or glasses for forecourt money agreed on 90k mileage 2009 X5 35d Msports last month -  thus little to benchmark when compiling the latest prices for guides).

Personally I would rather buy a private auc warrantied car than something of less provenance from a forecourt sold by someone in a donkey jacket but then again some prefer to drive to a forecourt with one car and leave with another, enjoying finance options & ironically naively having questionable peace of mind thinking seller will hold their hand throughout ownership.

Makes sense. Great car with spot on looks color & trim -  assuming it wants for nothing or relatively little then highly likely to sell if priced along those lines....If I was in market for a 2008 onwards E70 it would be on my shortlist. Good Luck if you do go ahead.
