Dreaded door handle
Dreaded door handle
Just replaced the drivers door handle carrier, not a bad job tbh the worse bit was getting the door panel of the centre clip, once ide sussed that you push the door panel in the middle and lift job was a good un.
Re: Dreaded door handle
Good job ! Mines gone too (drivers side) and my DIY "skills" stretch to fitting floor mats - so I need to pay someone to sort it.
It actually went a few months ago and I have been opening the door from the inside by dropping the window ever since !
Hoping it wont be too expensive to fix - a good local garage would be able to sort it I imagine - don't need a BMW specialist ?

Re: Dreaded door handle
If this is the issue I'm thinking of where a tiny bit of aluminium breaks from the handle pivot point surround - near one end of the steel rod, then there was an article on this whereby you can fix it with two zip ties.
This issue occurred to my drivers door earlier this year... and I repaired it with the zip tie concept - and still working perfectly... even though its considered a temporary fix... In some ways it may be better than the original part now from the way my door handle now operates.
Maybe X5-Sport or AW8 may be able to retrieve the article for you ?

Think I've seen it somewhere, I tried the cable tie fix and yes it does work but as I had taken it of Tuesday evening and got the new one Wednesday I wasn't gonna put the old one back on with a cable tie fix, coz knowing my luck it would of only lasted 2 minutes lol.
