Welcome.

Have you tried the auto box reset to see if that smoothes it out? I assume you are talking about the clunk when slowing down where it jerks into second gear or so just before you come to a stop?

Welcome aboard, and you'll find plenty of folks here able to offer advice based on their own experiences. Some of us have had transmission problems too. A reset is the simplest first step.

What problem are you actually experiencing?

Dealer has reprog'ed the box to try and cure the intermittently jerky full throttle k'down, ie it tries one gear then selects the lower one i REALLY wanted after all...grr

Hi ex and welcome,

I had something similar to this with my last e53, does it happen while cruising and then say going for an overtake or while slowing down, like at a roundabout and then wanting to accelerate?

yup..i reckon it is a glitch with its' adaptive nature, ie it can't deal with a schizoid behind the wheel!

Hi Ex and welcome aboard  guessing from your your sign off strip you have an e70 not e53. The e70 had a new gearbox when launched compared to the e53's (both 6speed) and as such the aformention soft reset would be related to e53. If this issue happens during acceleration/kickdown would take a guess that is more likely to be something to do with the electronic connection between the throttle pedal and the gearbox and not the gearbox itself. Have you tried a full throttle run in manual mode i.e. you selecting each gear? may be worth a go. Also does this jerky issue happen in 'sport' mode again worth playing with. Good luck and keep us informed.
