Decided to try Dunlops

Post by MarkP80 » Tue Oct 09, 2018 9:39 pm

It was time to get a new set of tyres the other day. The old Pirelli P-Zeros had done 18k in two years and were on the limit.
I wanted to stick with star-rated runflats, but fancied something a bit quieter. The Dunlop Sportmaxx GT looked like it would fit the bill. Another plus point was that the  tyre gives a little bit more rim protection than the Pirellis.

First impression is that the Dunlop’s are definitely more compliant, less harsh than the Pirellis. I haven’t tried them on the motorway yet, but happy so far.
Staggered 20” fitment. Just over £900 from black circles.
Anyone else running these on their X6?

Cheers,
MarkP

Got them on my X5 and so far so good. I did run mine with some non runflats for a while and it felt great but ended up going back to * marked Runflats.

Just replaced my tyres (Dunlop SP sports Maxx GT- run flats) after 4 years from new and 28000 miles.  No issues and found them reliable in wet and dry conditions, good handling and grip with excellant tread life.  Tyres were down to 3mm and reasons given is why I have  replaced them with same tyres, also from Blackcircles. Don't think you'll be disappointed with them.

Thanks for the feedback, interesting to hear other people’s experiences.

I’ll be very impressed if they get near 28k miles - my Pirellis were shot with 10k fewer on them!

Cheers,

Interesting I've got 20" staggered Dunlop Sport Maxx GT on my X5 and I was thinking of putting Continental ContiSport Contact 5 on.

The rear inners are quite worn after only about 10k, so I'm going to getting proper tracking done first!
