relentless Alarm going off... ??

Post by X5-D-Sport » Sun Jul 11, 2021 8:45 pm

Good evening Ladies,
My E5 has recently taken to firing the alarm time after time.

I have looked around inside for bugs flying about or a rogue spider, but none of those.

It has become such a nuisance that I usually have to leave the vehicle unlocked.

I have chased the usual things like....
it has a recently new battery & holding good voltage, all door sensors work & trigger the interior light properly when opened, as does the tailgate, & I have given the bonnet sensor some abuse to see if it is that... & will disconnect it & see it that stops the issue.

Any one know of any other spurious reasons the alarm will trigger... ?

regards to all
Grant B

Previous reported incidents usually finger the bonnet sensor.

Any other symptoms that may not seem related? radio swapping stations, indicator sounder silent, when mine started throwing the odd wobbler it turned out to be the LCM starting to fail. First sign was running a Fault code read and no communication with the LCM which in turn prevents comm's with several units

It's maybe because you actually lift the bonnet unlike 99% of drivers these days lol

i pulled the sensor on Sunday evening & no false alarms since -
I prized it open, & pinned it out.... the connections were spotless, but the internals were plastic on plastic moving parts & were partially jammed in place & after i had it on the bench for a while, I heard it click... hence triggering the alarm...

Yes the front "boot* opens but you can't put any groceries in there as it's too hot

well people... removing the bonnet/hood sensor switch definitely solved the false alarm triggers.
Many thanks for the input.

Have a great week
