Torque Settings - Replacement of Rear Wheel Bearings

Post by shy7g » Wed Aug 02, 2023 7:37 pm

Hi, all
I like many others before me are struggling to find the necessary torque settings for the work I want to undertake.
I need to replace the rear wheel bearings (as per subject heading) so will need a number of torque settings when rebuilding.
Off the top of my head I need the following:
Brake Caliper sliders (removal for easier access)
Brake Caliper Carrier bolts (removal for easier access)
Rotor (disc) m6 allen grub screw retaining bolt
          Main Hub Nut. (M36 Socket)
            Lower control arm.
Driveshaft-To-Differential torx bolts (E12 socket, so driveshaft can be taken out to get to wheel housing bearings)
                Wheel Bearing Housing bolts.
                  Road wheel bolts
AND ANY OTHERS YOU MAN#Y THINK I NEED
ALL HELP & ASSISTANCE IS GREATLY APPRCIATED
                  Cheers
                  Rich1899

Try this lot…..some of the parts have different names to those you’ve used.

Road wheels are 140Nm (+/-10) all round

Main hub nut is shown as M27?

There’s a shed load of BMW special tools needed to pull the driveshaft & differential flange together. No idea if anyone on here has done it/had it done without them. That’s what it means by ‘observe repair instructions’. It might just refer to this:

I'd think this will be a major job with a big press needed , One of the fronts on.my e70 needed near 10 ton before it came out .

I did all the wheel bearings about 4+ years ago when I also dropped the rear subframe some of the wheel bearings came out with my little 6 ton press, I had to put in a 10t jack for one which slightly bent the press. Like Leslie said some are a pain. Didn’t use any BMW special tools no doubt they would have made it all easier but at what cost.
