Almost stuck in snow this morn

Post by Leslie » Thu Jan 09, 2025 9:06 am

Tried to move off up my steep drive in my e70 this morming and didn"t get anywhere , we only had less than an inch of snow then started sliding back with 4 wheels locked .went down to the bottom of hill 2 cars lengths further back so no real run at it and another bend to make things worse and just got enough momenum to get up but it was really dtruggling . Need to get the winters on this week when it warms up
Don't prepare...prepare to fail lol  winters no good in garage. :driving:

Absolutely!
I don't want to come across as smug, but mine went on early in November - when it was still relatively warm and we hadn't even had one frost here. They'll stay on until sometime around the end of March.

We had 3" snow here overnight Saturday/Sunday, but by Sunday evening it had turned to rain and all washed away. Now we just have a few isolated patches of ice. We were out in the F25 yesterday and had no slippy/slidy issues at all.

I usually have them fitted too but been a tad lazy this year , lesson learned , ironically I had parked at the top yesterday evening but changed my mind as there was decent grip and only a frost so moved it down again then it snowed during the night. :headbang: All the salt was used on monday and salt box not refilled yet.

Snow? What snow? Not had any here in the East. Only just below freezing here.

You do have ‘Snow Mode’ on the traction control. Short press of the DSC button should bring it up. Long press turns DSC off completely but you have to be really really sure before you do that…. :D
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Put my winter set up on in November. I've not really needed them so far, but i have noticed the much nicer ride on the non runflat tyres with slightly taller walls. Swapping back in March/April will likely be a wake up on just how bad some of my traversed roads are.
