Id get a look under there first see if its the wiring is bodged or the actual sensor is faulty or the little link arms have come off.

The wiring on both is apparently bodged from a recent health check report.
And the plot thickens. Without doubting any input here i wondered what genuine parts might cost. That stirred the situation at the dealership somewhat, as my car was apparently showing as a US spec. OK, so we know they are built there, but the steering wheel is on the right side in my car, which they have had in the workshop only recently.
Anyway, after a hiatus, i just got this via email. It shows different part numbers per side, so i am even more confused.
We have finally found them! I had to pull in the parts manager from Tunbridge Wells too and he was stumped as well.
The part number you gave me is correct but I wanted to confirm that they are correct for your car.

I wish i was more hands on. Looking back on the heath check report, it mentions bodged wiring as i mentioned above, it doesnt condemn the sensors.
Maybe i need a good wiring man more than new sensors!

The front left sensor is probably for xenons mine has adaptive xenons and has a left front sensor . Depending on whats actually wrong with the wiring a used plug with some wire to reattach is maybe the best way forward and get it soldered in.
looking at realoem 754 part is a front and 753 is a pair of rears , the left of which has a bracket possibly the right doesn't need a bracket , my car isnt at home to check as its broke at the minute
You can see number 2 is a front bracket and the operating arm is at right angles where the rear is parallel , that will likely be the only difference between a front and rear but they wont be interchangeable .See below

I appreciate the continued guidance. I can't lift the rear end of the car on ramps as I don't possess any, and knees are no longer conducive to handling wheels on/off without some difficulty, if i can avoid it.
I know an auto electricians near enough to visit. They have a full lift and can get underneath it. I think I'll start there before buying any parts on spec. It could just need a wiring tidy up?
If ...753 is a paired set up even the dealership has got it wrong.

They probably assumed yours had xenons as most cars had
the 754 shows for adaptive drive and 753 for adaptive drive or self levelling suspension so its a bit confusing really
but part 2 the bracket is shown for front and linked to 754 so I can only assume its the front sensor .
An auto electrician sounds like just the man for the job .

Well the car does have air suspension but not very much else. Halogen headlights and manual folding door mirrors.
It is poverty spec for sure and a totally different animal to my E71.
From what is easily determined, the car was built March 2009 but it was only first registered September 1st 2009. Clearly, it's not a customer vehicle order.

I have auto folding mirrors and given the width of it them are needed for parking , its definately poverty spec lol maybe a company purchase that had to be under a certain cost.

It might have been ordered just as the financial crash of 2008 happened, got cancelled and reduced to minimum spec. Dealer probably still had to take it.

So the auto electricians i know actually declined to get involved its a BMW But they did refer me to an ex techie who i have spoken to and seems to know the issue.
I'm waiting on a call back to tell me when to bring it to him.
I don't regret buying this car just yet, but it ceased being a budget vehicle a while ago. It is still better suited to a life in Greece than the 'mint' E71 so ill keep cracking on for now.
