Bonnet Badge Replacement

Post by Giblets » Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:22 pm

Been looking at the multitude of bonnet badges on ebay but want to make sure I buy genuine. My current one is broken.

As I don't have the car with me today, what size do I need and is there a BMW part reference number I need to look for to make sure it's genuine?

Also - are they an easy fit?

Thanks

Part number is: 51148132375

Never taken the E53 one off, but if it's the same as all other BMW bonnet badges then just prise it up, they have 2 plastic pins which sit in plastic grommets, one at 3 o'clock and one at 9 o'clock positions. I usually put a rag/cloth one the body, then a credit card or similar on that (just to protect the paintwork) then carefully prise each side up with a flat blade screwdriver using the credit card to lever against. 30 second job. New one pushes in.

(providing they didn't change the design for the E53, which i doubt).
Current: E53 Facelift 3.0d Sport Exclusive, Sterling Grey/Black Nappa Leather, comms, 20"'s, heated steering wheel :p just remapped by Jason @BW Chiptune.
(Previous X5 4.4i Sport, Black/Black, comms, 20" 168's)
Also: E31 840Ci
Previous: 911, M5, 540, RR, 30ish BMW's

As B1G JV has stated you just have to gently prise it up. I got a set of black/silver CF ones if you want as I've just replaced them with all Black ones. PM me you want.
