Changing Cassette player to CD player

Hi,

I have a x5 2003 with a MID radio and a cassette player on top. Can I replace the cassette player with a BMW X5 CD player if I buy one from EBAY?

Put the last 7-characters of your VIN into Realoem.com and see if the option was available on your specific version. 2003 had two different versions, with the facelift arriving at the end of the year, so you have to narrow the field so it's not that simple a question. Realoem is the complete list of current BMW parts and car types for the US and European Markets.

If it is an option then you have a part number to check against ebay.

A check of your Owners Manual should also show it if it was available on your car.

If the option is available, is it a matter of just unplugging and plugging the CD in or will I have to change the plugs?

Should be plug and play as long as you get a CD radio with the same type of multi plug. There are two, round pin (older) and flat pin(newer) your radio will probably have flat pin.
