Wheel Arch rivets

Post by PhilT » Sat Aug 27, 2011 5:31 pm

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me how to re-fit the black plastic rivets that secure the wheel arches? I'm guessing I need a rivet gun?

Guess I should have sussed this out before I removed them

Cheers for any advice.
Cheers
Phil.

Not sure exactly which ones you're having trouble with, but does the centre not just push in again? I know on some types you remove the plastic centre, push the outer back into place and then plug the centre back into the middle to lock it in.

They are very easy to bugger up when removing unfortunately. A plastic rivet gun with rivets of various sizes is just shy of 20 quid on Fleabay. Or you can probably buy the odd rivet (no doubt for almost as much as a pack of 50 Ebay ones LOL) from your dealer.

Yes - pop them through and then fit the new sleeve and the pin after that to lock them in place:

Thanks for the responses everyone, and the link Sanj - I thought I'd read somewhere that they were re-usable and you just pushed the centre pin back in which is why I removed one :(

Better get myself on fleabay and order a gun & replacements
Cheers

The ones where you push the pin through aren't correct. The ones for the arches are plastic rivets. You push the plastic rivet through and have to then pull the pin outwards to expand the backing to hold it in place. So once you push the pin through on the old rivet it's done with.

Have a look at my thread in "how to" on Le Mans arch fitting thread and all will be clear.
