Hi Lads,
looks like im buying a house so my beloved X5 may have to go, not sure what its worth, so im asking the perenial "whats it worth" question.
Shes on a 52 plate, 3.0D sport in silver, auto, FSH, satnav/tellys/dvd/changer, all the toys, black heated leather, tracker 6months tax and approx 8 months MOT, loads of history/mots etc
shes in very good condition, wouldnt say mint, but not far from it,
the plan is, depending on what i get for it, is to sell her, spend 3 or 4k on a beemer estate and use what evers left towards the house,
any input appreciated,
cheers
John

Have a look at somewhere like Pistonheads and see if a similar one to yours is on the list. Or try Auto Trader's on line valuation service, or do a search of the UK web for a similar version? It's a really difficult one to advise on as I don't think any of the members are car dealers and probably don't have access to Class's guide (the bible for 2nd hand car prices) as used by Dealerships. Any of us could be way off the mark so setting wrong expectations for you.
Might be £8k, might be £10k........but then again...

Only paper glasses guide I have is out of date. Glasses is a guide only. Glasses p/x price here
Assumes 2002 car @ 90k miles (you didn't state mileage). Tweak mileage & year to suit. Not convinced re accuracy. P/X price so expect more for private as trade allow significant margin to prep. Classifieds vary from circa £6-13k for 02 & 03 cars or threabouts. Asking prices aren't sale prices & are all over the place, (as they are also for many other prestige badged cars of similar age).
Auto, leather & comms ticks the 3 boxes trade deduct for absence of same.
Expect some regional variations. When price benchmarking ignore obvious rough cars & greedy sellers.
Contact of mine buys & sells - Used to use glasses but usually now looks at prices in classified's then tries to match or undercut proper simlar cars. Often sells better cars than those offered by others but knows he needs to undecut or match to secure a sale in an acceptable timescale.

Re: another "whats it worth" im afraid
If it helps at all I test drove a pre-facelift 52 plate 3.0d Sport auto in black with leather but not comms, before buying my 53 facelift.
The Jag dealer wanted £12,500 which was massively optimistic for a 70k car.
I settled on a fully specced up facelift 53 plate 3.0d Sport auto (98k) with nearly every tick on the options list for £12,200 from a less reputable dealer.
Whilst searching for insurance today I got a shock when one site reckoned the trade were valueing my car at £6275!!!!
Surely an error?
Anyway I would think you'll do well to get 5 figures for yours unless the mileage is lower than average as like most people I really wanted the 218bhp engine and X-Drive in mine.

Re: another "whats it worth" im afraid
Thanks guys,
the mileage is 83k and it has the comms pack as well, i was hoping i could get 10 for it, but who knows, im glad i dont HAVE to sell, as if its worth crap money i'll just keep her,
its a tough one selling a car, as you all say, its totally variable and dependant on what someone wants to pay,
and Giblets, i renewed my insurance recently and they came up with the same value so no not an error, just the usual insurance co rip off,
cheers for now,
John
