Altering LED display

A guy on another forum asked this question - can anyone help?

Hi Guys, In My 2001 X5, i dont have the info unit above the heater control unit, but the LED strip across the lower dash in front of you. My question is, i can push the button on the indicator stork to cycle through the settings, but how do i set anything, like the date, time... my manual only deals with the other sort, so if you know how to adjust the settings please let me know...

i had this on my old x5 i never found a solution but then at that time i hadnt found this site so hopefully you will!!

Has the guy asking got a non oem replacement entertainment system by any chance? If so, he may have lost the ability to make said changes. (according to other threads read here... )
