E70 Rear Wiper Fitted to my E53!
E70 Rear Wiper Fitted to my E53!
Hi Guys,
I've been meaning to do this since I bought the car. The old metal one was a waste of time, it was seized and hardly even touched the screen, and made the car look like an old dog from the back!
After seeing Raj's E70 Rear Wiper upgrade and him supplying me with the part numbers, I finally got round to ordering it!
It took all of 5 minutes to fit. Just whip off the cover from the old one, undo bolt, pull arm and throw it in the nearest bin, replace new arm, re-fit bolt, fit cover, Job done
Just for comparison, here is the original one: (not my car of course)
And Here's the new one:
It works like a dream and looks miles better IMO.
Anyone looking to do the same, here's what you'll need:
1- Blade (61627161029) - £15.34 + VAT
2 - Arm (61627206357) - £22.28 + VAT
3 - Cover (61627161030) - £3.84 + VAT
Here is the Diagram from RealOEM:
You only need parts 1, 2 & 3.
Enjoy, and thanks again Raj!

Re: E70 Rear Wiper Fitted to my E53!
I'm surprised there wasn't a "group buy" thingy done on this, after all the rear E53 wipers are about as much use as a mudguard on a tortoise.

Never had a problem with the rear wiper on mine, bellisimo, as long as you use OEM blades

E70 Rear Wiper Fitted to my E53!
I've got new front blades for the front once screen gets replaced and noticed the rear needs replacing too... Think I may go this route though

It's not the blade that's the problem. The blade I took off was in perfect condition. It's that the spring has all corroded and seized up so the actual blade itself doesn't actually make contact with the screen!
Obviously you can clean/lube it up and make it 'good' again if it seizes up like mine, but the E70 one looks way nicer! The other one looks like meccano!

Re: E70 Rear Wiper Fitted to my E53!
Looking great.. Never had any issues with mine though. Usually a quick tweak of the blade-arm gets it back in contact.
I wish the X6 had one! I don't know why none was ever fitted. Perhaps they believe we all belt around at 100+ mph so they would rip off! Just have to keep using Rain-X, unless someone knows of a better anti-rain coating? Reversing in heavy rain is tricky even with the rear camera as it gets covered in rubbish too.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

It's 8 bags of wood shavings for the horse as the other half would say

Great mod but was thinking the same as storminmike - £50!
I did this for £11 all inclusive... And for that price I don't think it's that bad.

Meccano pair on the front though still?
Criteria's vary of course. I don't spend a lot of time looking at the rear of my car and as long as i can see through the screen when i need to, all is good for me. IMO, £50 for that is nonsense but, i'm happy to respect your desire to do it
