Satnav Repair

Post by garethdeb » Tue Apr 17, 2012 6:34 pm

Hi folks
I took my satnav drive out today (mk3) to strip it down as I understand the common cause for it's failure is the laser. I nearly bought the recommended laser off Fleabay but glad I didn't as the one that was in there was totally different. I have sourced the correct one now and so it's on it's way.
My question though is that I took the drive out whilst at work and have left it on my bench at work until the new laser arrives but driving home the radio was working fine (always listen to Radio 2 anyway so not a prob!) but there is absolutely nothing on the screen, totally dead. Is this correct, i.e. it will all come back to life when the satnav drive is plugged back in, or have I done something horribly wrong?
Cheers all
Regards
Gareth

It is correct. I sent my Mk4 away for a laser repair recently and the screen was completely dead. Once refitted all was well again.
