Driver Behaviour Auto Box

Post by dobbor1 » Wed Nov 28, 2012 10:00 pm

Ok guys, which is more fuel efficient?

From a standing start, firm and aggressive (ish) gas up to your cruising speed or smooth and gradual (taking longer) to acheive desired speed.

May seem a daft question but I have heard difference of opinions.

Something to generate a discussion anyway  :P

Former = usually
Latter = if I am towing

Though running in at moment so being quite careful (600 miles down, 400 to go)

I tend to find that the auto box changes gear more true and decisive when on the gas firmly. If I feather the gas its almost like the car can't quite decide when to change if this makes sense. Like you are willing it to change.

This question stems from when I had it remapped. The guy made reference to the fact that I would have crisper acceleration and would need less gas to get up to speed and would get there quicker.
