Considering the switch from 4.4i to 3.0d

I was quoted £2k for a prins system and that was with a 90 litre tank in the spare wheel well so same size as the standard petrol tank so should get a fair few miles from a tank.

just a point a 90 litre wont actually get 90 litres in, its something strange thats what size i had and the most i could get was £[email protected] (when i first got it, when i sold it it had got to 72.9 however since then its now 69.9 ::)

Because its gas you can only get 80% in they have a cut off value, some thing to do with expansion so you'd get 70-75 litres in.

They did mention the compression ratio, etc but still at 70ish litres I thought that would still get fair decent range?

Car starts on petrol and switches to LPG automatically when the car had warmed up. Iv left the car parked while shopping for 3hrs and it's started on LPG. It costs me about £8 of petrol for two tank fills of LPG. The cost is far more efficient when you think the premium price you pay for diesel cars which normally come with high miles. The size of the tank is big enough, you can get 300 motor way miles out of my 80l tank whatever it fills up to.
The price difference I found to be alot more when comparing driving my car and my dads e270cdi. Certainly alot more than £5 a week!

Personally if you own a good car, and you know the history etc why go through the hassle of selling then buying then dealing with the nighles again? And lose a v8!

Here here! My 50d is AWESOME. Can't believe the power and getting 29mpg- mainly town driving and only 600miles so hopefully get even better

I tend to agree with AW8, the OP is looking to reduce running costs with I believe a used 3.0d.

Scooby, I would be inclined to stick with the V8 and get a LPG conversion. The difference on what you would get for your car against the diesel should cover the cost alone if not more.

Well perhaps it's me but I find it hard to comprehend that you were honestly recommending that a prefacelift 4.4i owner trying to reduce outgoings want to change to an X6 M50d.

The X6 50d clearly superb I fully accept the MPG, & performance & other benefits to owning same but with a, (non optioned), list price of £70k (& over 360k for E70) I find it hard to see how this as sensible or even relevant advice.

In abscence of clarification some might have even percieved commets as ostentatious
