Just to confirm - no need for lube kit on 4.4. My dads jag x-type required the lube due to soft/weak valves or something like that!?
Got my 2002 4.4 lpg'd 10 months and 9k miles ago - all good and will have basically have paid for itself now. Here is a thread that I added detail and puctures to -

Shunt make no diff but its only a 3.0i but just as crap on fuel as a V8, what did you get fitted they list 3 different systems. But all a lot cheeper then BRC and prims, also list a few locations i would sooner get it done the same place as leeds int that far. why did you not go for a 90-95 litre tank.
A few threads now about lpg with many answer and some confusion, what is the saving on tax and did your insurance go up at all.

My insurance has remained the same but I think it's dependant on who you insure with. As I bought mine converted already I'm not sure of there is a saving on road tax, but if there is its minimal

Tesco added 25% to my insurance at time. Renewed with different company last month - no addition for lpg.
85 litre tank is what they had in stock. I think my system is custom made up from parts of various manufacturers rather than an off the shelf kit.
Thread was on 4.4 - engine of my choice as only 1mpg worse off than 3.0. Bonus for you is that 6 cylinder is cheaper to convert.

From my knowledge I beleive the reason Prinns and BRC charge a premium on budget brands is that they manufacture all of their own components where as the cheaper brands use pre-made parts. Absolutely nothing wrong with that but that was one of the reasons I was given for the big price differences.

Just thought I would check back as I hadn't received any email notifications and I find 53 replies to my original post!!
Thanks for all the advice on LPG conversions and I'm sure it is a very viable option but I have located a similar age/mileage 3.0d for the same money that I have already been offered for my 4.4i so no cost involved to go over to the dark side.
The car all checks out and is a very clean example so I guess all I need now is advice on what to check when I get to take it for a test run. I know to look out for dodgy gear changes and smoke other than on start up but should I be looking out for anything else? Know diesel related issues in particular.
In addition... I have halogen projector Depo headlights on the 4.4i which I've bought a 55w HID kit (inc ballasts) for but have yet to fit. The plan is to swap the Depo's over to the 3.0d and then fit the HID kit to the Depo's, then transfer the factory Xenons from the 3.0d on to the 4.4i, my question is will the factory Xenons plug straight in on the 4.4i or is there more involved? :blink:

diesel gives more torque than petrol!
torque is what you need for pickup not bhp!

I have tried diesel and did enjoy - Alfa Brera 2.4 200bhp JTDM for 15 months ownership - was a great car with superb power delivery BUT lack of revs and the embarasment of starting up that beautiful coupe from cold were not worth the high twenties mpg.
I am a confirmed petrolhead - loads of petrol Lancia/fiats, 9 petrol Alfas, 1 diesel Alfa and now a V8 petrol BMW..........running on lpg ::)

Take the turbo off the diesel and it will lose a shed load of torque, put the turbo on a petrol and gain torque.
But turbo them both and pound for pound the diesel will come out on top again, but bare in mind that the derv as double the psi of the petrol.
