Decat LPG

I have read a couple of comments recently in this regard - Supposedly ok to remove cats as different regs if running on lpg. Questions -

1. Will this be something all MOT stations are aware of?
2. How easy is decat? DIY?
3. Where to source replacement pipe(s)?
4. Cost?
5. BHP increase?
6. Have many done this? - even if on petrol only and refitting for MOT.

Nothing in the MOT regs to say you can remove the CAT - at least not that I can see in my copy.  It says that if fitted as original equipment then it must be present - no mention of anything about being allowed to remove it on LPG cars. 

Rules changed at the beginning of last year and it looks from the text that it would fail under Section 7.1.3.  The Manual does actually say that where 'specialist conversions have taken place the vehicle should be tested as if no conversion has happened'  emissions tests are carried out on the fuel in use at the time of presentation for test.

also your eml light may come on as its common to come on anyway with the emissions from lpg so may be pushing it with decat too

Im hearing the comments above but my Son is an MOT tester and he has confirmed this along with another garage who fit LPG systems. When my car was presented for MOT back in may the emmisions test was done under "Non catalyst (metered) gas test"

Also hear the comments re MIL lamp. I do indeed have a MIL activation reporting my CATs are damaged (not present) but am looking at getting a pair of these to sort this ]http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/o2sim.html]. I have tried putting a couple of exstensions on the lambda bosses to step the sensors off a bit, as this has been reported to work, but didnt in my case.
My advice if your not sure or worried then dont do it or approach your local testing station for clarification.

I will have a dig around on the LPG forum to see if I can get further info.

Oh and to answer some questions, I used a length of exhaust pipe welded in place of my cats - relativly easy as I am a welder /Fab by trade - cost of pipe £20 my time about an hour in the workshop after exhaust was off.

BHP increase - very noticble !
