Chasing my tail.

Post by Bargain Bucket » Thu Mar 07, 2013 6:28 pm

I love my X but it's a frustrating piece of machinery. As fast as I fix one thing, something else goes wrong. Today's treat is that as I went over yet another unavoidable pothole, the radio stopped working. The light on the headunit is on but no sound whatsoever. All sources are affected. Grrrrrr. Looks like I'm removing the spare tyre and suspension pump yet again.

I reckon the BM54 unit IS the easy option :). I've had to access the battry tray so many time, I can get it all apart in under 5 mins.

Well the sound is working again after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. I tried removing fuses 7, 72 and 73 first but with no luck.

But now the passenger seat electrics have mostly stopped working (only up/down is operational) and the upper tailgate handle has come out in sympathy.

how long did you leave the battery off for??

Might be an idea / worth a  try to disconnect for at least 5 mins then short the 2 leads together to totally discharge the car.  Then reconnect to the battery.

These are strange and fickle beasts!!!

Sadly the absence of electrickery for 2 hours this morning has not resolved anything :( Looks like the seat switch module, upper tailgate button, and my bank account are all buggered.
