LPG'd the Beast

Post by Raj » Tue Jun 04, 2013 5:08 pm

Finally took the plunge to get the X LPG'd. I'd been toying with the idea for quite sometime and finally just went for it. Had the Prins system fitted as they appear to have one of the best systems out there at the mo.

Booked it in with Hilton Autogas (only about 5 minutes from me and who appeared from the research to have an excellent rep). After a lot of discussions over how I wanted the kit fitted, they took it in the week of the Cosford meet.

Their attention to detail and the neatness of the install, etc was superb and exactly the kind of people I like to do business with. Extra hours were spent installing everything the way I wanted it and the finished result is superb.

Onto the pics.

Doesn't look to out of place:

Had to cut the engine covers but very neatly done:

The Keihin injectors are an oem quality:

Vaporiser and filters neatly fitted:

Love the positioning of the fuel filler. Already had someone try to stop me filling up thinking I was using the wrong fuel...lol:

91 litre tank nicely housed under the OE floor:

Really has made a huge difference to how much I'm using the X and the savings are excellent especially as I'm only paying 60p a litre.

No change in performance or switch over at all.

Cheers,

Raj.

Raj looks proper like OME install very neat indeed.

Sold my X5 to my bro and already he is thinking of LPGing it, but he's doing 30k plus a yr so some savings to be had.

I would like some more info please if you could.
Web site if they have 1 or address, cost of install and time to install.

Cheers

Well done. Looks like a neat job- especially the filler nozzle in the fuel filler neck. :))

How much did it cost out of interest? (PM if you like)

Cheers guys.

Hilton Autogas Website has all their info. They are based just off the M54 J1 / M6 J11 as its a link road road between the two motorways.

Owner is called Billy and the fitted is Steve. Both really nice guys to deal with.

As for the price, it seems with Prins they have a set price (£2k + VAT) but I did get a small discount. Some may think is really expensive compared to some of the cheaper brands but I plan on keeping the X so wanted the best system on the market for reliability, component build quality, etc.

Dropped it off on the Monday and got it back on the Friday.

That was one of the key objectives for me as I insisted from the outset that was where I wanted it positioned. Took Steve a bit of time to mould the filler plate to he shape but pleased with the results. I hate the fillers in the bumper etc positions.

lovely job that, love the filler location, i cant stand it when i see cars with the lpg filler in the rear quarter panel, somewhere else thats good is behind the towbar flap as they can be filled from either side with no adaptor, love the job and when you ever come to sell it should add a small premium compared to a petrol only car
