Might be getting my hands on a 2003 3.0d that I would break for spares

Post by dpbayly » Tue Sep 17, 2013 7:25 pm

This isn't an ad I'm just seeing what interest is out there for bits to see if it's worth getting, today a dark blue e53 3.0d got recovered to my garage with a suspected shagged gearbox (no drive) he's a customer of ours and he knew I had an X5 and hinted if it's expensive he'll probably throw in the towel and said "you can have it off me for spares" .

How serious he was I don't know but he was booked in with us to have the drivers door handle replaced as well as a new sender in the fuel the tank (n/s sender) so with the cost of that lot along with the possible cost of a gearbox rebuild there's a reasonable chance he was serious.

Now at first I thought I can't be bothered to strip it but if enough people wanted bits I might consider it.

So if anyone needs anything let me know the more interest I get will likely persuade me to grab it, engine and turbo are fine last time we saw it (4 months ago)it had covered 134k diffs transfer box, interior is cream leather and pretty much anything else, the only thing I would take off it for my self would be the xenon's and widescreen satnav.

O,k interest has been noted.

I'll hopefully get a chance to see if the gearbox is toast today or tomorrow so as soon as I know if its coming my way I'll let you know.

Upper tailgate handle for me (i.e. the thing with the number plate lights in it) assuming the the switch to release the tailgate works.

I'd be interested in the lower left plastic nut that holds the boot trim piece in place.
