Got another one for your musings!!!!

Post by Steamyrotter » Sun Dec 22, 2013 10:55 pm

Now this has me flummoxed, and you all know it takes a fair bit to throw me...

My last oil service was approx 2.5 years ago, remembering over a year of that was parked up..)
the lights have just got to the single green so thinking of the next oil service.

Thinking back i couldn't remember the last time i checked the level so was thinking of a small top up prior to oil change (Get me through to new year)

This is where my worry comes in....

The oil level is perfect. :noexpression:
It hasn't dropped at all from when i did it first????
Started to think that there has to be something else in there, but smell is only oil, and separating it on filter paper shows nothing else in it either!!!!

Correct me if i am wrong, but shouldn't this be using at least some of the oil somewhere???

I will admit that this same scenario has happened at each end of the last 3 oil changes I have done to this car..!!!
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

When mine was new I thought it had an oil habit as it used about a litre every couple of thousand miles or so.  However as it got older and the miles went on so the oil consumption tailed off until it was using very little between services.

Maybe yours is settling in and the oil habit is also falling away?
