Ah, I've seen that these can go wrong.
Any recommendation on where to buy a replacement, eBay?  And, should I try get the latest generation model? Do you perhaps have a part number that could be useful?

Realoem will give you all the module numbers and when they came into service.  Use the last 7 of your VIN to get the right 'Region' and build type.

Should help you narrow down the cross checks against flebay.

Ok, so I've made some progress here with the BMWScanner 1.4.

Try as I may, my iPhone 6s would not pair via the standard in-car or via PA-Soft BMWScanner 1.4 OBD port. I had cleared all paired phones, reset/rebooted the ULF, deleted all paired devices from my iPhone as well as reset the Network Settings. As can be seen below, no paired devices and pairing failure status:

So I decided to fiddle with the available modes. I switched from Normal (default) mode to Production mode and attempted to pair the phone. It wouldn't pair with the generic passkey '1234567890' but the fixed passkey '****' as supplied WORKED!  I was over the moon!

I did notice that the pairing status didn't reflect properly and when I disconnected everything I noticed that although the phone was paired with address book sync'd, I couldn't make and receive calls nor did the radio (audio) work. I plugged the Scanner back in and set the ULF back to default mode. This sorted it out and my phone (and radio) works perfectly now.

After this process I have now also been able to pair my wife's iPhone 6s via the normal in-car process too. I guess the ULF may have just need a number of reboots (kick up the jack) in order to clear a glitch.

The problem now is, when we are both in or near the car her phone pairs first. I'm just too sh!t scared to clear them and try pair again in reverse order...  :-[

WARNING!  Do yourself a big favour and obscure the VIN, pass key, IMEI and MAC address.  You are giving enough info to have your phone system cloned and detail about your VIN too.  The rest of your VIN is a default for the car type and so very quickly the full VIN is available!

There are too many miscreants on line looking for exactly what you have put on this thread, and you have even very kindly said what type of phone it matches to as well.
