Eh up all,

Just to partially update the thread in case its of use to others:-

I bought a Meyle repair kit direct locally as had multiple issues trying to get one of ebay, every supplier i checked started theirs was not compatible ? I only wanted the kit of parts and no oil.

The Meyle part numbers and codes are below for the kit only that suits my car, if you check on their website it will give you the options that fit your model. Kit is very well packaged and appears to be a quality items and components.

Im planning on doing the job next Friday so will post pictures and update after in case its of help to someone else,  (or i will be on asking for more help !!!!)

In way of an update,

Cheated and borrowed a mates 4 post today and did the change, I fully intended to take photos but with being in a different anvironment and having to concentrate I completely forgot once I got going!

Thanks to the tips on here:-

Got plastic under cover of mixture of 8mm self tap screws and a torn 25 screw in the back centre. I took mine off prior to make sure I wasn’t messing around on the day with broken/ stripped heads . I also got some replacement fasteners for the refit.

As everyone else, cracked off fill plug and then onto hex drain plug, dropped the ATF into a clean bucket. I chose to take a good luck at the fluid and put it into a clear water bottle. The fluid looked original , yellow/ tan in colour, looked reasonable to be fair ( wish I’d taken snaps) and then compared to new ZF fluid. It was clearly looking cleaner and better, but not as bad as maybe I thought it would be . No where near to when I dropped the PAS fluid from my old Volvo!!!

Carefully undid the Torx screws on the metal drain pan, thought it important to mention as some replacements kit had plastic pans which as far as I know cannot be used on my car. ( someone please correct if I’m wrong)

Undid the screws a bit at a time and cross rotation, if you get my drift, treat it as if it were a head gasket I was doing if that makes sense.

Dropped the pan and drained and cleaned of pan , no great amounts of sludge or filling material ( happy so far).

Took filter out, fit new filter just ran a smear of new ATF round the new filter seals .

Dried of and for good measure ran a fine wet and dry over the gasket area on the pan, fit magnets from kit and new drain nut.

Cleaned off underside of box, degreased gasket area and did it again just to be sure.

Refit with gasket and tightened up, think it was 10nm I used but worth checking to be sure, use a sensible pattern to torque slowly up I could not find any reference to the exact pattern so used my intuition.

Left it to “ settle” whilst I got a coffee, and then filled up with circa 3-4 litres of fluid, I bought a cheap hand pump for £6.99, worked a treat.

Left fillplug of , mate started car and ran through gearbox leaving each PNDR in situ for 10 seconds, I also went through sport box, not sure if it makes any difference but I did it.

Whilst doing it I topped up slowly with fluid until it flowed out, put fill plug on.

Left car running a good 40 mins, checked fill again and topped up, overall I used about 5 litres of ZF lifeguard 6.

Took car for a run, car ran great smooth through all gears - so far so good.

I then rechecked again as I had access to the ramp, no apparent change to level or leaks from the pan.
