Do tell...... :D

Do you find that the Main Beam takes a while to warm up, or have you got some sort of fast rise time lamps?

** Technical Note for those who don't know about HIDs: High Intensity Discharge bulbs use a high voltage 'starting pulse' of up to 25,000 Volts which generates an arc and a plasma of highly charged particles in the Xenon gas and that emits light. Once started, the voltage is reduced as a plasma has now formed which conducts the current so less is needed to keep the arc sustained. This is why you see a 'flash' as the lamp is first switched on and it takes a few seconds for the lamp to warm up to full brightness. End of note **

Having read that constant starting of HID bulbs shorten their lives considerably it would be interesting to know how your bulbs/ballasts are doing life wise?

The fogs look good. Were you able to keep the ballasts in the main engine bay, or are they close to the backs of each light unit? Did you go for 35W or 55W?

Interested as I'd like to do the same to our E53. I'd like to do the same on the X6, but it as no headlamp in tbe inner pair and the fog lights are also cornering lights so no easily adapted to HID due to the changing supply voltage.

Interesting you should say the 8,000K are brighter, but is that your perception or the light on the road? Everything I've ever read states that the higher the colour temp, the lower that actual light output really is to the viewer because our eyes are centred on a green spectrum and the more 'blue' you go from 4,300K the dimmer the lights actually are. I thought that 8,000K (a good deal 'bluer') were actually 30% dimmer that the approved 4,300K standard temp. Are your higher temp lamps actually higher power consumption- say 55W instead of the more usual 35W - to get over this?

There's a lot available at that price point. You should be able to get at least 12MP for that money.

Have a look through this lot: http://www.warehouseexpress.com/digital ... 1&SortBy=1 :camera:

If the price is right, I may be interested if a group buy would help :-)
