Just went to shops , opened boot & found four 1.5 litre water bottles on their side which I prior placed in bungee secured box as water reserve in case coolant ran low.

Some minor leakage........Mopped up what I could see asap

..........Rear of car now in bits, compressor, battery PDC, TM, PDC & radio modules all found totally dry but now elevated.

Now trying to work out how to remove battery tray/box though despite removing fastenings it seems stuck. Don't want to damage battery vent pipework the rear connection s of which I cannot see from inside the car.

Any ideas on how to remove this please ?

Failing this any idea what's underneath ( so I can make informed decision re real need to remove same) ?

Not essential as I reckon less than half a pint leaked and parcel floor carpet soaked up most.

Need to reassemble before darkness

Is this a tray UNDER the battery? Or the WHOLE cradle??? Tbh, I'd probably not know.

If the modules all look dry then that should be good. If you can leave them for a few hours/overnight to appease you're worries, that would be good...

Take a hairdryer to it, or an electric paint-stripper. If the latter, keep it a reasonable distance away so you don't burn anything. As long as you get things warm and there's a forced air draft it will dry out. We used this trick on Police cars that leaked, or get their boots left open at incidents and our electronics got wet! Never give a copper anything - they'll only break it!!

I meant whole cradle.

Have now looked underside car & realised how to do this - there are multiple corroded fastenings so will leave same in place.

Like plenty of other car enthusiasts, changing corroded easy to access & change underside fastenings is a job I have not got around to doing.

Have fan heater on removed shelf.

Now going to put another fan heater in back of car -remembering no to leave tailgate lights on so as to prevent battery drain.

Okay I believe I am getting somewhere.

Pretty sure no more electrics are vulnerable. Will leave hot air to circulate a while then reassemble & once floor shelf dried.

Will just need to keep eye on this after a drive in wet to ensure I haven't forced water ingress points by disrupting seal between box/cradle & steel boot floorpan.

Should keep me busy for most early part of evening........

Right all done apart from still waiting for carpeted load floor to dry out in front of heater. Boot area all dry, reassembled & spare back in.
