Thanks all. Will pursue with dealer and feedback. Do however have Oil service, rear pads and Road tax to sort in the next couple of months!

Thanks for the replies guys and sorry for the slight tread hijack 8-)

It was definitely LL04
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-a ... &0&cc5_247
but it hasn't been delivered yet.

25% off and 10% cashback and I couldn't resist...so I ordered 16 litres!
How did you get the 10% cashback?

Is it one of these cashback things like topcash or quidco....never used em....they scare me :D ....do they work :?
I used topcashback, they usually pay more than quidco and don't charge an annual fee. I had about £250 from them last year. It's just free money as far as I'm concerned, all for clicking on a link!

Anyway, the oil turned up yesterday and the bottles have 'filling' dates stamped on them from the various dates in 2011. Googling suggests that Castrol recommend using the stuff within 2 years of the filling date! :dizzy:

I know it's not mineral oil, but how old do they think that stuff is?! :ROFL2:

I guess Castrol (and others) have put some funky additives in which seem to have a pretty short shelf life, either that or they're just trying to get people to throw the stuff away after 2 years!
