So the Intravee uses the cd changer plug then yes? What about controlling the iPod from the H/U, does it still think its a changer? I take it you have to run the iPod connector somewhere convenient? What sort of damage will the Intravee do to my wallet and where's best to buy? Lots of questions I know, sorry! Can it be used in someway to use my iPhone hands free too?
Cheers guys
Gareth

Yeah it replaces the cd changer... No big loss really as you gain whatever capacity iPod you use. You control it same way as cd changer more or less. Also has extra features like fold mirrors on lock as an example. I got my intravee from toysinyourcar.com for around £150 and the KCA-420i off eBay for around £50. My cd changer skipped and jumped over every bump. I have mine run into the centre consol. I also converted my snap in adapter so my intravee hooks up straight into my iPhone. Ive got a thread somewhere with photos of the install I did. Think it's called "intravee installed" do a search.

i realise we've hijacked this thread.. having said that
toystory cd - just rip it into mp3s and play it off the ipod. so your 4 year old has nothing to give up on.
if you really insist that the cd changer should work as well (although i see no sense..) there's a way of doing that too - replace the cd changer with an alpine unit (sell the oem unit on ebay, buy an alpine unit on ebay, u won't incur much additional outflow), add an intravee switch.
controlling the ipod - same as cd changer control is really an understatement. u can do all the ipod menu controls using the oem head unit. like play lists, albums, authors, the lot
ADDITIONALLY u magically get various add-on features on your oem head unit - like mirror fold, PDC info on-screen, etc - this list is long! (stuff that's usually available only if u have a BMW scanner, made possible cos intravee through the cd changer port communicates with the cars i bus)
