Denis, there's only one quadlock going into the radio module, it's the one on the top right of your photo. It's exactly the same as the quadlock on your lead. Take the quadlock out of the radio module and then plug in the quadlock on your lead to the radio module. The car quadlock then plugs into the other end of the lead.

Then it's just a matter of connecting the plugs to the amp extension loom, there's only one connection that each plug will fit so you can't get it wrong. The same applies to the other end of the extension, the plugs can only go into the correct apertures in the amp.

The yellow wire does get used but I can't remember what the connection is right at this moment. Ask again when you're doing it and post other pics.

Reading your post again I think that you're looking at the wrong box. The radio module is the silver box directly in front of the batttery not the one in front of that again. The black plug on the right of the silver box is the quadlock.

That's the one Denis as Sanj has already confirmed. From memory I think the yellow wire with the white plug has to be plugged into another connection on the same loom. I'll be honest and say that I don't know what it's function is but the amp wouldn't power up until the connection was made. As far as I can remember there was only one connection left that it would go into so it should be obvious once everything else is joined together.

Yeah but bloody expensive! Did mine for £40! Amp off eBay and wiring already had.

So did you up rate the front speakers also? Which Amp?
I'm sure I could manage to splice a few cables to install. I take it you used the original input to the OE alpine amp to supply the new amp also, and then cut the speaker outs from the OE to run from the new?

You can take the wiring for the speakers AFTER the OEM amp.

I never replaced the OEM amp as mine is the upgraded HK one, so no need. I did upgrade the front door speakers, even though they were components with tweeters I added even better JBL components. The BSW midranges are great if you can afford them.

My additional amp was for my sub, sorry should have made that clearer.

In theory you can wire up a new amp use the purple with white stripe cable from the RCM quad lock to get your remote feed, then wire all the stock speakers direct to the amps inline feed. Most importantly get an amp with wire inline feeds (not RCA) and it should be a 4 channel amp. If you do this, then upgrade the speakers too.

OK then. The amp is all done.

David is right in that once everything is connected there ain't much space for the quadlock connection. A bit of judicious pruning of existing cable ties and electrical tape and I managed it. Also followed the existing wiring up to the side pocket and fixed the amp with velcro. Tidied the wiring with cable ties and all good.

The yellow wire I referred to earlier has 2 possible connections in the same loom. Either a red or a yellow. The "instructions" on the packaging says "4 pin yellow" or "8 pin red/rot". I have neither 4 or 8, I have shite loads of pins in the quadlock so in good logical fashion I went for red. Hurrah, it worked but I guess if it hadn't, the worst that could happen is it blows a fuse.

Of course I hadn't thought of this before but as the Blaupunkt amp takes over from the factory version and the fact that it is only 2 channel, I now only have sound to the front. I guess I need to go 4 channel Blaupunkt to have the rear working as well. I'll hold fire on that decision till I put the tweeters in. Can't do those today as SWMBO is calling for lunch at the local.

Denis, the rears should be working as well.  Whilst only the fronts and tweeters will be powered by the new amp, the rears should still be working as before through the original amp.  I'm not sure where you've gone wrong but I suspect you may have gone for the wrong option when choosing which plug to connect the yellow wire in the loom to.  The instructions are non existent and I may have just fluked it and got it right first time.

At any rate you should definitely be able to have the rears functioning with this set up.

Thanks David. I'll try yellow to yellow and see what happens.

OK. After a little trial and error and a call to Blaupunkt Direct I now have the, sort of, definitive answers.

It appears that the yellow to yellow or red connection is not critical either way. They are both to do with power. Mine sounded better with the red lead connected so that's the way it stays. This connection has nothing to do with the non working rear speakers.

The rear speakers will work though if the 2 rear speaker plugs, from the 2.5 metre extension lead supplied, are connected to each other. I'm just about to connect those and away we go.

The only question now is whether I upgrade the amp to the 4 channel and have the rear speakers through the amp as well. Let's see.
